Who We Are & What We Do
Green Clean Maine is made up of helpers and doers who don’t shy away from the hard work that goes into professional house cleaning. In fact, it’s because this work is so demanding that we love it. That’s part of what makes residential house cleaning so satisfying. We love how the day flies by – whether we are providing housekeeping services or helping clients in the office – this work keeps you busy.
We are friendly, warm people who truly enjoy getting to know you. We love being a part of our client’s lives – watching the kids be welcomed into the world, grow up, go off to school (tears!). We love being there through the ups and downs, all the while ticking off the boxes on our cleaning checklists – our way of caring for not just your home, but for you, too.

Greetings!
Green Clean Maine started with a question: Is it possible to do well by doing good? It was 2006, and through my work for a local green lifestyle guide, I learned that all of the eco-friendly cleaning services in Southern Maine had too many customers. I sensed an opening, and launched Green Clean Maine with just two clients, a vacuum, and a plan.
For the first few years, I cleaned full-time alongside my team. It’s really hard work, but I enjoyed it, and gained a deep appreciation of the challenges and joys that come with cleaning homes for a living. I believe that appreciation and knowledge makes our client experience better – everyone who works here loves to clean and knows how to do it well.
I’m proud of what we’ve built, and creating a net environmental benefit is still a core value for me and this team. But at the center of what drives us today is the difference we make in our clients’ lives. We are giving people their time back – and helping to create healthier homes while we’re at it. It’s a great feeling and it’s why my passion for this work continues. I hope to welcome you to the Green Clean Maine family soon.

Green Clean Maine is proud to be a founding member of the On the Pathway to 100% Clean Energy project. We help Maine businesses make the switch to clean, renewable energy – and save money in the process. Our goal is to be powered by 100% clean energy, including our vehicles, by 2030. A 21kW solar array powers our Portland headquarters where we prepare for our daily home cleaning services. We heat and cool using only air-source heat pumps. We burn no fossil fuels on site. Our custom cleaning solutions are non-toxic and readily biodegradable. Our cleaning methods produce no paper waste and use very little water. We use intelligent routing and scheduling to drive the fewest miles possible each day.

Green Clean Maine donates 1% of our revenue each year to local non-profits that support environmental sustainability, educational access and access to the outdoors. Through our Paid Time Off to Volunteer program, employees contribute time and energy to several community groups each year.
